HEATHER

Welcome to Heather

Houseboat of character, docked in Hoveton by the River Bure on the Norfolk Broads Waterways.

Heather is cared for by a partnership of friends and family. Our aim is to preserve the distinctive style of the houseboat and enable future generations to enjoy her charms.

Explore the riverside, browse the shops and places to eat and drink ~ and much more beyond monumental Wroxham Bridge.

Curtain Call

A new set of curtains or screens have finally been fitted around the after well ~ verandah. They were made to fit by local marine canopy maker and upholsterer, Mark Anderson. Modern cream coloured vinyl and stainless steel fastenings were used. They closely replicate the original canvas screens, which were probably dispensed with around the middle of the last century, when the well was enclosed, making a two berth cabin.

There are six separate sections, suspended between the stanchion poles ~ which supports the house roof. Each section has transparent window panels. In favourable weather, they can be individually rolled up to roof level. Guests will be able to sit out in the well and soak up the local scenery.
