HEATHER

Welcome to Heather

Houseboat of character, docked in Hoveton by the River Bure on the Norfolk Broads Waterways.

Heather is cared for by a partnership of friends and family. Our aim is to preserve the distinctive style of the houseboat and enable future generations to enjoy her charms.

Explore the riverside, browse the shops and places to eat and drink ~ and much more beyond monumental Wroxham Bridge.

A frequent question asked about the houseboat is, ‘don’t you find it cold?’

When on board during autumn and winter months, the stove burns smokeless coal and seasoned wood. Solid fuel stoves provide the driest of heat, irradiating any damp and condensation boats are notoriously known for.

At other times, an electric, low voltage tube heater is used. This provides just enough heat to protect the books, linen and other belongings. We also lift some of the floor boards and open cupboard doors.
