Animal behavior can vary from mild to wild in the space of split second. Wildfowl is no exception. The winged fraternity frequently end up in scrapes from either their own mistakes, peer squabbles ~ or occasionally issues with humanity.
In the previous week, three accidents occurred which for some unexplainable reason, or by chance put some water birds in danger.
Similarly, a pair of mallard ducklings got separated from their parents on the River Bure a little distance upstream of the bridge in Wroxham. Carol spotted the ducklings were distressed as they were also isolated from the other nine siblings who were together on the bank. Inticising the fledglings with some food and a deft sweep with a net ~ soon enough the family was reunited ashore.
A grown mute swan appeared out of nowhere on Roy's car park near the Free Moorings. Luckily, a group of ladies mustered together and herded the puzzled bird back down to the river with the aid of a packet of wraps.
Voluntary animal lovers step in at any given moment to help wildlife in peril. In circumstances as described above, there is often no time to plan ahead or even liase with official bodies. Action coupled with humility and doses of humour can invariably work best.
