The new breeding season has begun on the River Bure. Amongst the resident Hoveton~Wroxham mute swan colony you may see pairs of swans paddling in unison. The fancy jigs are customary courtship rituals and one of the wondrous sights of the natural world.
Behind the magnificent romantic displays between waterfowl, Bird or Avian Flu remains a dangerously fatal threat around the world. The malady can also now transfer to mammals.
Please be aware by the waterside. If you see water birds acting in an unnatural way in the Norfolk and Suffolk region please contact Marine and Wildlife Rescue Telephone: 01692 650338
MWR work alongside other wildlife organisations like the RSPCA to help animals in distress every day. Donations can be made to Marine and Wildlife Rescue online or at collection pots found at Oh Crumbs Sandwich Bar and Ken's Fish and Chips on the High Street, Hoveton near Wroxham Bridge and the Ferry Inn at Horning.
