HEATHER

Welcome to Heather

Houseboat of character, docked in Hoveton by the River Bure on the Norfolk Broads Waterways.

Heather is cared for by a partnership of friends and family. Our aim is to preserve the distinctive style of the houseboat and enable future generations to enjoy her charms.

Explore the riverside, browse the shops and places to eat and drink ~ and much more beyond monumental Wroxham Bridge.

The Princess and the Porter

The Princess Anne, Princess Royal ~ champion of the countryside, maritime life and common sense recently celebrated her birthday.

In 1992 wearing a woollen porters uniform Chris met Her Royal Highness at the Great Yorkshire Show staged at Harrogate. Arrangements were made behind the scenes and the royal party detoured to the Jubilee Pavilion where Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway was exhibiting a wonderful recreation of a timber framed railway station. A book was presented to the Princess showing her great grandfather King George V walking from the Royal Train at Bolton Abbey station enroute to stay at Bolton Abbey, the Yorkshire estate of the Duke of Devonshire.
