Houseboat of character, docked in Hoveton by the River Bure on the Norfolk Broads Waterways.

Heather is cared for by a partnership of friends and family. Our aim is to preserve the distinctive style of the houseboat and enable future generations to enjoy her charms.

Explore the riverside, browse the shops and places to eat and drink ~ and much more beyond monumental Wroxham Bridge.

Ernest Louis Woods


Ernest Louis Woods, master boat builder and the brains behind the remodelling of Heather into a houseboat appears in a roll call of Horning worthies listed in the marvellously 1933 version of Kelly's Trade Directory. Also listed are Farmer Tallowin of The Grove and circus bear legend, as well as a Jason Yallop, fishmonger.

Louis is a French name meaning famed noble warrior.
