HEATHER

Welcome to Heather

Houseboat of character, docked in Hoveton by the River Bure on the Norfolk Broads Waterways.

Heather is cared for by a partnership of friends and family. Our aim is to preserve the distinctive style of the houseboat and enable future generations to enjoy her charms.

Explore the riverside, browse the shops and places to eat and drink ~ and much more beyond monumental Wroxham Bridge.

Riverside characters ~ Happy Days Ian and Tuppence

Some may say the world is more sanitised than previously. Thankfully this is not altogether the case in Broadland, where characters abound, whether they realise it or not.

Around a year ago, Ian who stayed part time on his narrow boat died after a prolonged illness. Ian had a joyous and caring personality and was usually accompanied by his equally jolly dog Tuppence.

Ian loved wildlife ~ going to some lengths to put up and maintain bird feeders in the trees (well away from crafty rats) at the far end of the railway viaduct moorings in Hoveton. One wonderful memory is of Ian on Christmas Eve morning two years ago singing ABBA songs very loudly from his barge appropriately called Happy Days, while anchored on Upper Bridge Broad in Wroxham.
