HEATHER

Welcome to Heather

Houseboat of character, docked in Hoveton by the River Bure on the Norfolk Broads Waterways.

Heather is cared for by a partnership of friends and family. Our aim is to preserve the distinctive style of the houseboat and enable future generations to enjoy her charms.

Explore the riverside, browse the shops and places to eat and drink ~ and much more beyond monumental Wroxham Bridge.

This second drawing shows WILLING BOYS actually at Brush Bend, Gorleston, looking more or less directly at her old home slipway which was dead centre to the drawing ~ though now filled in.

The Storm Company of boatmen had their HQ in the first white building from the left with the two dark bars or doors on the gable end and the Ranger Company of boatmen had their HQ in the first left hand building from the lighthouse, both packed up in February 1946, the very last of the famous old East Coast beach companies to do so.

Of course behind WILLING BOYS are the pier heads and the open sea, hence the rolling swell.
