HEATHER

Welcome to Heather

Houseboat of character, docked in Hoveton by the River Bure on the Norfolk Broads Waterways.

Heather is cared for by a partnership of friends and family. Our aim is to preserve the distinctive style of the houseboat and enable future generations to enjoy her charms.

Explore the riverside, browse the shops and places to eat and drink ~ and much more beyond monumental Wroxham Bridge.

Jack the lad

Young Jack Powles provided the primary account of HMS IOLANTHE, the armed Broadland flotilla for the duration of World War 2. Jack was given the 'Young' title at Powles Hoveton~Wroxham boat yards to avoid confusion with his uncle Jack Powles.

Young Jack is pictured on BROAD AMBITION in 2008, a streamlined motor cruiser Young Jack helped build in 1966 (originally STAR SUPREME Registration number R641) when he was yard foreman.
