HEATHER

Welcome to Heather

Houseboat of character, docked in Hoveton by the River Bure on the Norfolk Broads Waterways.

Heather is cared for by a partnership of friends and family. Our aim is to preserve the distinctive style of the houseboat and enable future generations to enjoy her charms.

Explore the riverside, browse the shops and places to eat and drink ~ and much more beyond monumental Wroxham Bridge.

Plenty of water under the bridge

Several days of jammed river water flooded the lower parts of Hoveton and Wroxham, so much so its been difficult to distinguish land from the water. Local boatman Mr Buck Snr said this is the highest levels seen since 1997.

Earlier in September long bouts of rainfall swamped the drains and the Bure rose up and over many of the wharves ~ the deluge turning the river a ruddy colour. It was funny to see water laying stubbornly where old dikes have been filled ~ possibly unwisely by man in recent history.
