HEATHER

Welcome to Heather

Houseboat of character, docked in Hoveton by the River Bure on the Norfolk Broads Waterways.

Heather is cared for by a partnership of friends and family. Our aim is to preserve the distinctive style of the houseboat and enable future generations to enjoy her charms.

Explore the riverside, browse the shops and places to eat and drink ~ and much more beyond monumental Wroxham Bridge.

Evergreen outlook

Increasingly more trees, shrubs and planted areas around the riverside and other built areas have been lost, creating a more sterile urban environment. The loss of vegetation, not only has a negative impact for the planet, it is also detrimental to our well being. Natural planting has deep therapeutic qualities ~ seeing greenery in our daily lives is proven to be beneficial for health.

In the spirit of green beautification in Hoveton, some individuals have placed planters and seasonal hanging baskets around their premises. A revolving series of colourful planters have been added to Granary wharf, including a pair of golden leaved English yew shrubs (Taxus baccata 'David') in striking green pots. Yews are the only native evergreen conifer in Britain ~ and they have long been revered as a sacred tree by the Druids and later Christians.
