HEATHER

Welcome to Heather

Houseboat of character, docked in Hoveton by the River Bure on the Norfolk Broads Waterways.

Heather is cared for by a partnership of friends and family. Our aim is to preserve the distinctive style of the houseboat and enable future generations to enjoy her charms.

Explore the riverside, browse the shops and places to eat and drink ~ and much more beyond monumental Wroxham Bridge.

Life cycles of the Upper Bure swans

The large bank, or group of mute swans who live on the upper reaches of the River Bure around Hoveton and Wroxham are expanding as new cygnets (baby swans) are hatched, swelling numbers of the clan. Baby cygnets often begin life on a floating nest, tactically located on the edge of the water, securely away from land predators.

Cygnets have black bills and grow over several months from fluffy grey to brown in colour; miraculously transforming into majestic white adult swans ~ beloved in folklore, song, art and literature over the centuries.
