Heather is cared for by a partnership of friends and family. Our aim is to preserve the distinctive style of the houseboat and enable future generations to enjoy her charms.

Shakespeare's floating DNA

Precisely sixty years ago a newsreel portrayed a family with direct lineage to the great bard of Middle English ~ William Shakespeare. Their residence was a houseboat called theatrically BLACK SWAN on the River Thames at Bourne End.
