HEATHER

Welcome to Heather

Houseboat of character, docked in Hoveton by the River Bure on the Norfolk Broads Waterways.

Heather is cared for by a partnership of friends and family. Our aim is to preserve the distinctive style of the houseboat and enable future generations to enjoy her charms.

Explore the riverside, browse the shops and places to eat and drink ~ and much more beyond monumental Wroxham Bridge.

Riverbanks of yore

Riverbanks below Wroxham Bridge around a century ago.

Laying by Loynes natural looking quay is a pleasure wherry houseboat with a Horning Town Sailing Club pennant fluttering on the bows.

Granary Staithe is a hive of activity with rustic timber buildings ~ Mr Stringer's bicycle shop and Chamberlins store stands by the incline of the bridge, while Landamores boat station is beside the dyke. Note that the cabins are piled high up in order to counter flood tides.

This wonderful archive image can be seen at The WatersEdge Restaurant & Bar.

There is a great range of places to eat and drink in Hovetom and Wroxham ~ each with their character.
