HEATHER

Welcome to Heather

Houseboat of character, docked in Hoveton by the River Bure on the Norfolk Broads Waterways.

Heather is cared for by a partnership of friends and family. Our aim is to preserve the distinctive style of the houseboat and enable future generations to enjoy her charms.

Explore the riverside, browse the shops and places to eat and drink ~ and much more beyond monumental Wroxham Bridge.

Swabbing the house roof

Cleaning dirt off the after end of the house roof. Meanwhile mute swans dip their heads down to bottom feed.

Originally the weatherproof covering consisted of painted heavy duty cotton canvas cloth held in place with strips of metal. Floatex, a brand of laminated plastic was sheathed over the pine boards in 1990.

Trivia: House roof is the correct nautical term for the top of a superstructure over a deck space on a ship or boat.
