Some fun was had helping tidy under the village hall stage in the summer. Friends of Hoveton Village Hall and the Players Theatre Group were also looking for props for the upcoming A Night To Remember.
The stage is held up by supporting walls made of pink bricks produced by the London Brick Company for construction of the hall in 1953. Why weren't local bricks used...
Amongst the eclectic found objects were stout old wooden trestle tables~ some of the deal boards were branded with a former sovereign's cypher GRVI (King George The Sixth), painted canvas back cloths and miscellaneous panto props like starry wands, oaken panelling from somewhere and an empty Marks and Spencer crisp packet of 1986 vintage.
In the store room adjoining the stage, a canvas gazebo turned up with a luggage label declaring "Property of Hoveton Parish (now Community) Council". The tent was bought as part of the Celebrate Hoveton riverside events which Andrew and Chris assisted with over ten years ago.
