Welcome to Heather

Houseboat of character, docked in Hoveton by the River Bure on the Norfolk Broads Waterways.

Swan salvation

In the last week a couple of mute swans were found with angling gear accidently spun round their sizable bodies.

Paul drove over from Norwich to remove a long length of line with an attached cigar shaped plastic float and hook from an adolescent swan. She is a member of the herd of ten cygnets who were born in the Wroxham backwaters this year.

Young animal aficionado and angler Oscar spotted another young swan snagged with pike fishing tackle. He successfully lured him in with our blended food and managed to remove the paraphernalia.

It was fortunate and helpful that both of these rescues were achieved from the river bank, rather than aboard a boat.
