HEATHER

Welcome to Heather

Houseboat of character, docked in Hoveton by the River Bure on the Norfolk Broads Waterways.

Heather is cared for by a partnership of friends and family. Our aim is to preserve the distinctive style of the houseboat and enable future generations to enjoy her charms.

Explore the riverside, browse the shops and places to eat and drink ~ and much more beyond monumental Wroxham Bridge.

Crosses to bear ~ a tale for All Hallows' Eve

Andrew with Tyrion and Chris with Bobby went down the long causeway across the marshes to a sacred spot by the River Bure ~ St Benet at Holme Abbey.

Macbre ghost stories of the isolated abbey abound. A little known surreal event occured on the shortest day of the year 1988 AD. The following morning a carcass of a goat was found festooned on the oak cross (recently gifted by The Late Queen) erected where the high alter stood. Was the poor animal put there as part of a pagan or satanic ritual, or merely a freaky prank...
