HEATHER

Welcome to Heather

Houseboat of character, docked in Hoveton by the River Bure on the Norfolk Broads Waterways.

Heather is cared for by a partnership of friends and family. Our aim is to preserve the distinctive style of the houseboat and enable future generations to enjoy her charms.

Explore the riverside, browse the shops and places to eat and drink ~ and much more beyond monumental Wroxham Bridge.

Dodge the coffin

◇ Please be aware, the following images may cause offence: some glimpses of post~mortem architecture could be visible.

The coffin glided on a journey from sodden Lower Hoveton and Wroxham to Hoveton Village Hall for the Hallowe'en party organised by Friends of the Hall on Saturday.

Meanwhile it's time for a brew or something stronger to keep the spirits up.

For a few moments the casket floated along the flooded boat yard from its deep storage home. There is a hole at the bottom edge underneath however and it begins taking in water.

The display of the coffin is akin to an art installation. Varied forms of vivid imagery depicting mortality and afterlife have been made from the earliest times, both in high art and popular culture. Tudor portrait pictures for example often featured skulls, or similar symbols of death.

Thanks kindly to Peter of Wroxham Launch Hire for transporting the casket from the river to the hall.

Chris
