When inspected the mute swan was found to have a fish lure accidently hooked into her body. This had lodged through the thick layer of feathers and pierced her skin. The lure was actually well hidden in the side under her wing in what would be her ‘armpit’ ~ the wound looked bad, but cleaned up really well. Damage to her bill was minimal. She’s currently doing well at a sanctuary.
Paul, Chris
Her tongue will not obey her heart, nor can
Her heart inform her tongue,~the swan's
down~feather,
That stands upon the swell at full of tide,
And neither way inclines.
Her heart inform her tongue,~the swan's
down~feather,
That stands upon the swell at full of tide,
And neither way inclines.
Anthony and Cleopatra, Act 3, Scene 2, 55~60
