HEATHER

Welcome to Heather

Houseboat of character, docked in Hoveton by the River Bure on the Norfolk Broads Waterways.

Heather is cared for by a partnership of friends and family. Our aim is to preserve the distinctive style of the houseboat and enable future generations to enjoy her charms.

Explore the riverside, browse the shops and places to eat and drink ~ and much more beyond monumental Wroxham Bridge.

Patrick the Wood Pigeon

One recent chilly tea time Grace and Chloe from Ken's Traditional Fish and Chips noticed an unusually subdued common wood pigeon (Columba palumbus) ~ the fine handsome grey birds who frequently make a distinctive cooing call. The bird was cowering by the side of the ginnels intersecting the old former steam roller mill yard.

He was scooped up and warmed by hand; a big cardboard box was found and punctured with ventilation holes. A piece of cloth and paper were then placed in the bottom ready to retain the almost motionless creature.

As luck would have it, pigeon specialist Carol was able to come by and pick up the pigeon Christened Patrick by the young ladies.

In an increasingly selfish world, it is heartwarming to see people working in harmony and with humour for a good cause, free of the shackles of misplaced ego and monetary gain.
